European Investment Bank Partners with HOWOGE for Affordable Housing in Berlin
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to a EUR 500 million credit facility with HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH. This significant financing effort aims to build approximately 3,200 new residential units in Berlin by 2029. As the largest EIB housing financing in Germany over the past decade, this project underlines a strong commitment to affordable housing and energy efficiency.
At least 50% of these new builds will be subsidized, offering a viable solution amidst Berlin's tight housing market. The collaboration emphasizes long-term stability and social responsibility, benefiting both residents and the environment through lowered energy costs and reduced carbon footprints.
For HOWOGE, this is a milestone as it marks their first cooperation with the EIB. The transaction broadens the company’s financing mix and highlights its sustainable growth path. This agreement also reflects confidence in HOWOGE's financial strength and its dedication to expanding Berlin’s housing portfolio.
