Eutelsat Embraces FCC's Upper C-band Transition Framework
Eutelsat (Euronext Paris / London Stock Exchange: ETL) has expressed approval of the FCC's new regulatory framework for transitioning the Upper C-band spectrum in the U.S. This move aims to expand advanced wireless services while maintaining key satellite operations. Eutelsat will gain $504 million in incentive payments, contingent upon a successful transition by 2031. The company will be reimbursed for transition-related expenses.
This FCC decision offers regulatory stability. It supports reallocating 160 MHz of Upper C-band spectrum, ensuring both technological advancement and uninterrupted satellite services. Eutelsat CEO Jean‑François Fallacher underscored the significance of a seamless transition, emphasizing collaboration with stakeholders for a smooth implementation.
