EVN Advances in Battery Storage Strategy Implementation
EVN AG has made strides in executing its battery storage strategy introduced in December 2025. The goal is to achieve a 300 MW capacity by 2030, enhancing flexibility in renewable energy generation. In Probishtip, North Macedonia, EVN commissioned the nation's largest battery storage system, boasting a 10 MW capacity and 20 MWh storage. Plans are underway to double this capacity to 40 MWh.
A recent commissioning has increased EVN's total capacity to 22 MW. Expansion projects in Lower Austria include a 70 MW and a 16 MW facility at Theiss and Dürnrohr power plants. Co-location storage is also operational at Trumau's super-hybrid park with a 3.4 MW capacity.
The initiative allows optimal energy marketing and contributes to network stability. EVN's in-house software, developed by CyberGrid, enhances its position in the decentralized energy market.
