FidAR Reflects on 10 Years of Board Quotas in Germany
FidAR recently marked a decade since the introduction of gender quotas in supervisory boards at its 2025 Forum in Berlin. With legal backing, female representation on private sector supervisory boards rose from 19.9% in 2015 to 37.5% in 2025, with public companies showing a similar trend. Despite this progress, the need for broader implementation was emphasized.
The 30% quota under the Act on Equal Participation in Management ensured increased female presence on key boards. However, FidAR President Anja Seng argued for more binding regulations to extend the benefits to a larger number of companies, highlighting the success of quotas but noting their limited application scope.
