HOWS Barcelona: Addressing Global Housing Challenges

The Housing World Summit (HOWS) Barcelona is set to convene key figures in urban and affordable housing this November. Hosted by the Barcelona City Council and organized by Fira de Barcelona, the summit will coincide with the Smart City Expo World Congress. It seeks to tackle the housing crisis affecting millions globally, with over 300 million people without shelter and 3 billion in inadequate housing as per UN-Habitat data.

Prominent speakers like Anacláudia Rossbach of UN-Habitat, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and author Anna Minton will share insights. Discussions will span urban planning, housing regulation, social initiatives, innovative building practices, and renovation strategies. Notably, Barcelona's Mayor, Jaume Collboni, will lead a roundtable with mayors from cities like Milan and Budapest, focusing on housing rights and global policy.

The summit aims to forge new paths for more accessible urban environments through diverse topics and collaborative discussions.
