Fnac Darty Executes Full Buy-In of UK Pension Scheme
On December 10, 2025, Fnac Darty announced the completion of a £330 million full buy-in agreement with the Trustee of the Comet Pension Scheme in the UK. This strategic transaction involves securing the scheme's liabilities with Canada Life UK, a highly rated insurer. Through this move, Fnac Darty significantly reduces financial risk tied to future pension payments, bolstering its long-term financial stability.
The pension scheme was originally part of Darty's UK operations and integrated into Fnac Darty following the 2016 acquisition of Darty. The recent agreement ensures that member benefits remain unchanged and has no substantial impact on the group's cash reserves. Jean-Brieuc Le-Tinier, CFO of Fnac Darty, emphasizes the strategic significance of the transaction, noting its completion under favorable market conditions.
LCP served as lead transaction adviser, with legal assistance provided by Macfarlanes to Fnac Darty.
