Française de l'Énergie Confirms Natural Hydrogen Discoveries
On March 23, 2026, Française de l'Énergie (FDE) announced the successful completion of its PTH-2 well project, confirming substantial occurrences of natural hydrogen in France's Moselle region. This operation, part of the REGALOR II research program, marks a strategic advance in natural hydrogen exploration.
The PTH-2 drilling reached a depth of 3,655 meters, the deepest for natural hydrogen exploration worldwide. The project successfully identified natural hydrogen across several intervals, expanding upon discoveries made at the Folschviller well in 2023.
The next phase involves further scientific studies under the REGALOR II program, focusing on dissolved hydrogen concentration measurements. Simultaneously, FDE aims to evaluate its exclusive Trois Évêchés exploration permit to determine the potential for commercial development.
FDE's advancements have attracted international interest, spurring research collaborations in Europe and potential projects in the United States.
