Friedrich Vorwerk Secures SuedLink Contract in Joint Venture
Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE has won the civil engineering contract for a 43 km section of the SuedLink electricity highway. This award, involving several hundred million euros, is part of a joint venture with other companies. The section stretches from Wischhafen to Stade/Rotenburg in Lower Saxony. Friedrich Vorwerk's share in this venture is 40%.
Preparatory work on this project is set to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with full construction commencing once permits are secured. The SuedLink project aims to transport wind energy via underground cables from northern Germany to southern consumption centers using HVDC technology.
As one of Germany's largest infrastructure undertakings, SuedLink is crucial for the country's CO2-neutral energy ambitions. Construction of the entire project is expected to complete by 2028, coinciding with Europe's extensive grid expansion plans.
