Gerresheimer AG to Sell Centor and Packaging Business to Apax Funds
Gerresheimer AG announced the sale of Centor US Holding Inc. and its global Primary Packaging Plastics business to Apax Funds, expecting the transactions to enhance its capital structure. The combined enterprise value is approximately EUR 1.5 billion. This disposal involves 16 production sites across nine countries, engaging around 2,400 employees.
The company aims to finalize the sale of Centor by the end of 2026, with the remaining business anticipated to close in the first half of 2027. The cash from these sales is designated for reducing leverage, intending to optimize Gerresheimer's financial setup.
Gerresheimer's CEO, Uwe Röhrhoff, emphasizes the strategic pivot towards high-value drug delivery and medical devices. Meanwhile, Apax intends to back Centor and the packaging division to foster independent growth and innovation in healthcare packaging.
