GLN Expands QR Payment Network for International Travelers in Korea

GLN International, a subsidiary of Hana Bank, has expanded its QR payment network in South Korea. By partnering with Coocon, GLN integrated 500,000 additional merchants through Seoul Pay, raising its total to 1.5 million across Korea. This expansion aims to enhance the payment experience for international visitors.

QR payment use by travelers increased by 1,000% in the first half of 2026 compared to late 2025. The service will soon be available to visitors from the US, Canada, Singapore, Vietnam, and Mongolia. GLN continues to broaden its network, aiming to cover over 10 countries by 2027.

Spending by international visitors has widened beyond Myeong-dong to areas like Seongsu. QR payments have seen growth in retail and tourist hotspots, including Busan and Jeju. The expansion supports the tourism sector and local businesses in Korea.
