Global Expansion of Europrivacy Certification to Enhance Data Transfers

A significant development in international data transfers has emerged with the European Data Protection Board's (EDPB) approval to expand Europrivacy certification globally. Previously exclusive to European entities, Europrivacy now extends its compliance mechanism beyond EU borders, aligning with Article 42 of the GDPR. This allows global companies to utilize Europrivacy certification to meet GDPR standards in their data processing activities.

The EDPB has also approved a unique version of Europrivacy criteria to serve as appropriate safeguards under Article 46 of the GDPR for international data transfers. This initiative aids companies, particularly those importing data outside the EEA, in demonstrating GDPR compliance while fortifying legal assurances and encouraging trust in cross-border data exchanges.

This change comes as international data transfers encounter heightened data protection obligations. Europrivacy's global applicability helps entities verify compliance, manage risks, cut costs, and facilitate data transfers, thus driving competitive advantages and revenue growth.
