Gode Wind3 Offshore Wind Farm Begins Commercial Operations
Ørsted A/S and Nuveen Infrastructure have launched the Gode Wind3 Offshore Wind Farm, now powering 250,000 German households. The wind farm, with a capacity of 253MW, is Ørsted's fifth operational site in Germany. Final tests were completed on February 28, 2025. This project reinforces Ørsted's market leadership, supplying renewable electricity to approximately 1.6 million German homes.
Nuveen Infrastructure manages over USD 30 billion in assets, powering over four million homes globally. The Gode Wind3 project contains 23 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with an 11MW capacity. The electricity is transmitted to the German grid through TenneT's system. Ørsted will receive EUR 81 per MWh.
Innovation includes a new installation method for monopile foundations, reducing underwater noise. Ørsted plans further expansion with the 913MW Borkum Riffgrund3 project by 2026.
