Grande Portage Resources Commences 2026 Drilling at New Amalga Gold Project
Grande Portage Resources Ltd. has launched its 2026 drilling program at the New Amalga Gold property, located near Juneau, Alaska. The initiative consists of up to 4,300 meters of diamond drilling across 14 holes, aimed at upgrading resource classification and collecting critical geotechnical and hydrogeological data to support mine development plans and environmental reviews.
The program, approved by the US Forest Service, sees collaboration with several industry-leading contractors like SRK Consulting, Timberline Drilling, Piton Exploration, and Coastal Helicopters. Key tasks involve groundwater level monitoring and hydrogeological modeling to anticipate groundwater inflows.
The New Amalga project boasts significant gold and silver resources, with a current focus on phase expansion and refining operational plans towards a small-footprint underground mining approach to minimize environmental impact.
