Grande Portage Unveils Socioeconomic Insights for New Amalga Gold Project
Grande Portage Resources has published a Socioeconomic Impact Study for its New Amalga Gold Project, forecasting the creation of 565 jobs in Alaska, with 475 in the Juneau area. The study, executed by McKinley Research Group, anchors its findings on a recent Preliminary Economic Assessment dated February 11, 2026. During the operational phase, 277 positions are anticipated, with 195 filled by Alaska residents. Moreover, US$34.1M is projected to enter Alaskan households annually.
The construction phase could generate 370 jobs and US$93.1M in total labor income. The project's footprint reduction strategies have enhanced its economic and environmental viability. The assessment reveals a potential payment of $129M in taxes over the mine's life, supporting 450 residents. Notably, the study positions the New Amalga project as a significant economic stimulant, promising increased employment and enriched revenues for the state.
