Green Energy Park Secures $30 Million in Series-A Funding for World-Scale Renewable Hydrogen Facility in Brazil

Green Energy Park (GEP) has successfully garnered $30 million in Series-A financing to establish a pioneering hydrogen production and export terminal in Luis Correia, Piaui, Brazil. This funding marks a significant step towards the construction of one of the world's largest facilities dedicated to the production of hydrogen and its derivatives. The project, which aims to position Brazil as a leader in renewable energy, particularly hydrogen, is supported by a variety of global stakeholders including strategic partners, financial institutions, and offtakers.

Founded in 2023, GEP focuses on producing cost-effective renewable hydrogen, leveraging northeastern Brazil's optimal conditions. Their first plant in Piaui aims for an electrolyzer capacity of 10.8 GW when fully operational. The facility will integrate advanced engineering practices from related industries to support substantial hydrogen output and distribution, targeting hard-to-decarbonize sectors. The Piaui site stands out for its favorable natural resources, making it a strategic choice for this high-impact environmental project.

Bart Biebuyck, CEO of Green Energy Park, emphasized the urgency of accelerating the global transition to renewable energy to meet climate targets. The Piaui project is positioned at the forefront of this shift, promising to contribute significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions globally while simultaneously fostering economic and industrial growth within the region.
