GSMA Launches Open Telco AI to Enhance Telecom AI Development
GSMA has introduced Open Telco AI, a global initiative aimed at boosting the development of telco-grade AI. This initiative promotes open collaboration among operators, vendors, developers, and academic stakeholders. A new portal at GSMA.com/open-telco-ai will provide access to telco open models and tools, addressing the shortfall in performance of current AI models in telecom.
AT&T and AMD are key contributors, offering models and compute resources, respectively. The initiative includes community programs to address real-world telecom challenges. It aims to build AI that understands network realities, as highlighted by industry leaders like Louis Powell from GSMA and Andy Markus from AT&T. The initiative also sets benchmarks through the Telco Capability Index.
Supported by numerous partners, Open Telco AI facilitates the co-creation of essential AI building blocks for telecom. These include models, open data, compute resources, and benchmarks, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation.
