H55 Achieves Milestone in Electric Aviation Certification
H55, a Swiss-based company, has completed a pioneering test campaign for propulsion battery module certification, the first in the aviation industry. This campaign addresses a significant hurdle in commercializing electric aircraft by proving lithium battery cells can safely contain worst-case failures.
Supervised by EASA, the tests demonstrated that H55's energy storage systems meet aviation safety standards. The successful certification allows H55 to set a benchmark for future electric aviation projects, reducing risks for manufacturers, operators, insurers, and investors.
This achievement allows H55's systems to support projects like the BRM B23 Energic and the hybrid-electric Dash 8, promoting scalable deployment across electric and hybrid aircraft.
