H55 Advances Hybrid-Electric Flight Technology
H55, a Swiss electric propulsion company, reports significant progress in developing its 200 kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) for the RTX Hybrid-Electric Flight Demonstrator. This initiative, in collaboration with Pratt & Whitney Canada and Collins Aerospace, targets a 30% improvement in fuel efficiency for regional aircraft through its hybrid-electric propulsion architecture.
The demonstration project leveraged H55's EASA-validated battery system as a certifiable foundation due to its extensive use in over 2,000 hours of flight operations without incident. H55's technology, born from the Solar Impulse project, supports the integration of its battery system into regional transport aircraft, marking a significant step in broadening its market reach.
With the technology now aimed at larger CS-25 category aircraft, this evolution represents an expansion opportunity for H55 within the growing market for hybrid-electric solutions.
