Hannover Re's Strong Half-Year Results Despite Market Challenges
Hannover Re reported a robust half-year performance, with group net income rising 7.0% to EUR 1.4 billion. The company remains on track to meet its full-year earnings target of EUR 2.7 billion. Gross reinsurance revenue fell by 3.1% to EUR 12.9 billion due to exchange rate fluctuations. Despite this, the return on equity reached an impressive 21.5%.
In property and casualty reinsurance, the combined ratio improved to 83.2%, with large losses totaling EUR 784.7 million, below the expected EUR 1,024.6 million. Life and health reinsurance progressed as forecasted, with reinsurance revenue increasing by 9.1% to EUR 4.1 billion.
The return on investment surpassed the 3.5% target, reaching 3.7%, boosted by a larger investment portfolio of EUR 69.4 billion. Hannover Re's disciplined capital management and robust capital base have bolstered profitability and stability amid market cycles.
