Hapag-Lloyd Reports Strong Growth Amid Volatile Market

Hapag-Lloyd has demonstrated notable growth despite challenging market conditions in the first nine months of 2025. The company achieved a Group EBITDA of USD 2.8 billion, with Group EBIT and profit at USD 0.9 billion each. Transport volumes rose by 9% to 10.2 million TEU, driven by robust demand in Pacific and Asia-Europe trade lanes.

This growth is attributed to the new Gemini network, which enhances schedule reliability. However, freight rates have lowered by 4.8% compared to 2024, impacting overall earnings. The Liner Shipping segment's revenues climbed to USD 15.7 billion, while the Terminal & Infrastructure segment saw revenues increase to USD 375 million.

Looking forward, Hapag-Lloyd plans to invest in up to 22 new ships under 5,000 TEU, aligning with their decarbonization goals for 2045. The company narrows its 2025 earnings forecast to an EBITDA range of USD 3.1 to 3.6 billion, amidst continuing geopolitical uncertainties.
