HDF Energy Partners with Topsoe for Hydrogen Power Plant in Texas
HDF Energy has announced the selection of Topsoe for its upcoming 250 MW BaseBlue Power™ plant in West Texas. The plant will utilize Topsoe's SynCOR™ technology to produce low-carbon hydrogen from natural gas, while capturing up to 98% of CO₂ emissions for underground storage. The project aims to supply reliable electricity to data centers by 2030.
The facility will generate approximately 400 tons of hydrogen daily from the Permian Basin, addressing the high demand for consistent, clean electricity in data centers. With proton exchange membrane fuel cells, the plant will achieve electrical efficiency above 50% and respond swiftly to demand fluctuations, emitting only water at the generation point.
BaseBlue Power™ is designed to be modular and scalable, enabling replication at other sites. This approach meets the dual needs of data centers for firm and low-carbon power, leveraging both natural gas conversion and advanced carbon capture.
