HDF Energy becomes the sole shareholder of Renewstable® Barbados
On October 23, 2026, HDF Energy announced the acquisition of Rubis' shares in the Renewstable® Barbados (RSB) project. With this acquisition finalized on October 15, 2026, HDF Energy became the sole shareholder of this hydrogen power plant located in St. Philip, Barbados. Rubis, which had been the majority shareholder since 2022, was thanked for its support of the project.
HDF Energy remains committed to the development of RSB, aiming to achieve financial closure, construction, and commissioning, subject to regulatory approvals. The project will replace 13 MW of imported fossil fuel energy, providing stable renewable electricity to 18,000 residents through solar power and green hydrogen.
At a cost of over $100 million, RSB is replicating the CEOG model in French Guiana. HDF Energy is awaiting a decision from the Barbadian government regarding the tariff.
