Hep solar Partners with Toshiba on Japanese BESS Projects
Güglingen, 20 May 2025 – hep solar, a specialist in solar investments based in Germany, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions, promising a robust partnership for future high-voltage battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Under this agreement, hep solar will manage the development of several BESS sites in Japan, with Toshiba ESS overseeing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and sales through aggregation services.
The collaboration comes amid global expansion of renewable energies, where BESS plays a crucial role in stabilizing power grids by balancing electricity supply and storage. Martin Vogt of hep solar highlights the partnership as a key milestone marking the company's entry into the BESS market. The collaboration aims to target rapidly growing high-voltage BESS markets in Japan, focusing beyond initial projects in Hokkaido to regions such as Tohoku and Kanto.
Yuji Shimada of Toshiba sees the MOU as a platform for further growth in project development with hep solar.
