International Jazz Day 2026 Concludes with Global Concert in Chicago

The 15th International Jazz Day ended with a notable All-Star Global Concert in Chicago on May 1, 2026. Thousands of performances took place across 196 countries, celebrating jazz's unifying power.

Held at the Lyric Opera House, the concert featured 40 renowned artists, including Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Buddy Guy. Highlights included Dee Dee Bridgewater and Gregory Porter's tribute to Ramsey Lewis and Herbie Hancock's rendition of "Watermelon Man."

The event showcased diverse performances, from Jacob Collier's homage to Quincy Jones to a segment led by Robert Glasper combining jazz and hip-hop. The evening culminated in Gonzalo Rubalcaba's take on "Caravan" and ended with John Lennon's "Imagine," promoting musical unity.

Supported by organizations like Capri Capital and the MacArthur Foundation, and with airline partner United, this event emphasized jazz's role in cultural diplomacy.
