HOPIUM: Bench tests for the 200 kW maritime fuel cell
On March 18, 2025, HOPIUM announced the start of bench testing of its complete 200 kW fuel cell system, designed for marine use. This system, consisting of two 100 kW fuel cells, is intended to power medium-sized boats. It marks a step towards the integration of Hopium's technologies into the maritime sector in partnership with K-Challenge.
HOPIUM's strategy is based on initial access to niche markets such as maritime and aerospace, which are more amenable to current fuel cell costs. The company plans to expand its solutions to offer an alternative to diesel for heavy-duty transportation between 2028 and 2030.
As part of its projects, HOPIUM has submitted a recovery plan to the Paris Economic Activities Tribunal and is awaiting the results of its deliberations. This initiative is part of its mission to develop a hydrogen-powered electric powertrain for heavy-duty transport.
