HRS Launches an Innovative Energy Backup Solution

HRS, the European leader in hydrogen refueling stations, has begun construction of its first Secure Power Unit (SPU), a modular hydrogen backup power solution. Designed to secure critical infrastructure such as data centers, it will integrate PEM fuel cells from Ballard Power Systems.

This demonstrator, to be installed in Champagnier in 2027, will test key technologies such as hydrogen-electricity integration and security architecture. It addresses the growing demand for secure electrical energy, particularly for intensive digital applications and strategic infrastructure.

With a targeted power of 1 MW, this project is part of HRS' diversification strategy, aimed at strengthening its position in the hydrogen value chain, while continuing its industrial development.
