Huawei and SOLUM Introduce Shop-in-Shop Network Solution
On March 5, 2026, Huawei and SOLUM announced their joint release of the Shop-in-Shop Smart Converged Network Solution at MWC Barcelona. This innovative solution combines digital infrastructure with electronic shelf labels (ESLs) to form a unified platform. The architecture caters to global retailers, offering a scalable and efficient store network.
This partnership evolved from their earlier IoT AP convergence solution. The latest offering targets high-traffic retail environments such as malls and airports, seamlessly integrating SOLUM's Newton ESLs. Aimed at enterprises like pop-up shops, the solution enables real-time updates and easy management.
Key features include a unified gateway supporting LTE and Wi-Fi, reducing the need for ESL-dedicated APs. This supports cost savings, with a potential 55% reduction in total ownership costs. It allows remote global management and swift promotional updates in real-time.
Hoy-Jin Lee, SOLUM Europe's Senior Vice President, highlights its potential for cost reduction in retail operations. The solution is integral to Huawei's smart retail offerings. Future collaborations will explore deeper AI applications in the retail sector.
