Huawei Focuses on Digital Inclusion Amid AI Growth
Huawei convened partners, policymakers, and media in Barcelona to discuss closing connectivity and digital skills gaps as AI expands into sectors like healthcare and finance. The event, prior to Mobile World Congress, highlighted the digital divide, which Huawei's ICT CEO Yang Chaobin noted is widening despite AI advancements. He emphasized that high-speed networks and robust computing are essential for an inclusive AI era.
The International Telecommunication Union reported that 2.2 billion people remained offline in 2025. Dr. Cosmas Zavazava from ITU stressed the importance of meaningful connectivity and responsible AI governance. Huawei, under the ITU Partner2Connect initiative, improved digital access for 170 million people in 80 countries by the end of 2025.
Furthermore, Huawei's focus shifted to conservation efforts, using digital tools at Spain's Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac to protect biodiversity through the Tech4Nature initiative. This project aids in balancing conservation with visitor access.
