Huawei Introduces New Grid-Forming Strategy at The Smarter E 2026
Huawei unveiled its latest grid-forming strategy for future power systems at The Smarter E 2026 in Munich. The focus is on integrated solutions to enhance grid stability amid increasing renewable energy use across Europe. By 2030, wind and solar energy penetration is projected to reach 64% in the region, leading to challenges in grid resilience and system strength.
Steven Zhou, President of Smart PV & ESS Product Line at Huawei Digital Power, emphasized the role of grid-forming technologies in addressing these issues. Zhou highlighted Huawei's shift towards primary power sources, leveraging advances in hybrid PV-BESS solutions to replace traditional thermal plants.
Huawei's updated product, LUTERRA, aims to enhance grid stability through comprehensive features like black start and inertia support. Notable benefits in projects include a 10% revenue boost in Germany's AHS business park and significant electricity savings for Carrefour in Spain.
