Huawei Unveils Next Generation OTN for AI-Centric Optical Networks
During the NetworkX 2026 event in Vienna, Huawei introduced its vision for the "LIGHTS" All-Optical Network at the Optical Transport Innovation Summit. This network aims to transform operator capabilities in the AI era through Huawei's Next Generation OTN solution. The concept aligns with the increasing demand for data center interconnection, enterprise computing power, and integrated network services.
This new optical network framework emphasizes six capabilities: low latency, intelligent operation, environmental sustainability, high reliability, massive capacity, and security. Huawei's OTN solution offers an ultra-high-speed capacity from 800G to 2T for data center interconnectivity, while ensuring flexibility, efficiency, and security in different scenarios.
By transitioning to the LIGHTS network, operators can strategically shift from bandwidth-focused business models to offering comprehensive value-added services. This evolution enhances service differentiation and industry application integration, providing substantial opportunities in sectors like education and healthcare in places such as Hubei, China.
