Tech4Nature Expands Reach at IUCN World Conservation Congress

At the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, the Tech4Nature initiative, a collaboration between the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Huawei, showcased its impact through a series of forums. Highlighted projects included Tech4Nature China’s audio monitoring of Hainan gibbons and Tech4Nature Brazil’s use of sensors to study mangrove ecosystems. The initiative, launched in 2020, spans 11 flagship projects across 8 countries, aiming to enhance nature conservation through digital technologies.

The event also debuted the Tech4Nature Awards, recognizing innovation in conservation technology. Winners included Distant Imagery Solutions in the Tech Innovation category and African People & Wildlife in NatureTech Stewards. These accolades underscore the role of technology in driving positive change in conservation efforts.
