Huawei Surpasses ITU Partner2Connect Goal, Connecting 170 Million Globally
Huawei Technologies has achieved a significant milestone by providing digital connectivity to 170 million people in remote regions across over 80 countries, exceeding its original goal set with the ITU Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Coalition. Initially, Huawei committed to connecting 120 million people by 2025.
Yang Chaobin, CEO of Huawei ICT BG, announced this achievement at the TECH Cares Forum in Barcelona. The event focused on digital inclusion in the AI era and hosted diverse stakeholders discussing solutions and partnerships for reducing the digital divide.
Cosmas Zavazava of ITU commended Huawei's efforts in bridging this divide, emphasizing the importance of innovative, inclusive models for connectivity. Huawei's initiatives, like the Skills on Wheels program and the new RuralCow solution, demonstrate their commitment to expanding digital access.
The forum highlighted the need for continued collaboration among governments, businesses, and organizations to further digital inclusion and support a sustainable digital environment.
