HUBER+SUHNER and Microsoft Boost Hollow Core Fiber Rollout

HUBER+SUHNER AG has announced an enhanced collaboration with Microsoft to accelerate the global deployment of Hollow Core Fiber (HCF) connectivity within the Microsoft Azure network. This partnership aims to expand production capabilities and support Microsoft’s cloud and AI infrastructure. The collaboration has been ongoing since 2017, focusing on HCF cable and connector solutions.

HUBER+SUHNER plans to advance manufacturing processes at its Swiss facility to integrate HCF into multi-fiber cables. These efforts are paired with the production of patented HCF connectors in Germany, catering to hyperscale and metro-optical environments. HCF technology promises to enhance network performance by transmitting data 47% faster compared to traditional methods.

This development brings Microsoft closer to realizing an all-HCF network, offering benefits like reduced latency and increased data center flexibility. HUBER+SUHNER’s innovative solutions play a critical role in addressing these connectivity challenges and edge closer to seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
