IBU-tec Secures Permit for Europe's Largest LFP Plant
IBU-tec Advanced Materials AG has received a crucial permit from Saxony-Anhalt's State Administrative Office for its Bitterfeld-Wolfen site. This permit facilitates the construction of operational buildings for a new production platform with a capacity of 15,000 tons per year. The site will feature a modern laboratory dedicated to battery materials.
This development represents a significant milestone for IBU-tec, following recent advancements in logistics infrastructure, analytical capabilities, and IT system integration. The company has erected a steel structure for a logistics warehouse with a 2,000-pallet capacity, expected to be completed by year-end, with a trial of the spray tower set for late Q4.
In early 2028, IBU-tec will commence operations, becoming the sole European industrial producer of LFP cathode material. PowerCo SE has secured the entire decade-long capacity. The plant's production can serve electromobility, stationary energy storage, and defense technology.
