IBU-tec Advances LFP Production with New Spray Tower
IBU-tec Advanced Materials AG has celebrated a key milestone with the topping-out ceremony for a new spray tower at their Bitterfeld-Wolfen site. This event marks a pivotal step towards the large-scale production of European LFP battery material. The facility is set to produce approximately 15,000 tons of LFP cathode material annually, becoming the first of its kind in Europe, and reducing its carbon footprint significantly compared to conventional methods.
The development is part of IBU-tec’s strategic agreements with PowerCo SE, which ensures access to the plant's entire production volume for the next decade. Meanwhile, existing facilities in Weimar will continue production. Such collaborations point to mid-double-digit million-euro revenue expectations within the next three years.
Sven Schulze, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt, emphasized the importance of battery materials in Europe's energy transition during the ceremony. IBU-tec's CEO Jörg Leinenbach expressed the company’s ambition to consolidate Europe’s battery production capabilities and its commitment to sustainable solutions.
