Implenia Secures Key Contracts for Zurich-Winterthur Railway Expansion

Implenia AG, in partnership with Marti, has secured contracts to execute five out of the six main sections of the MehrSpur Zurich-Winterthur project. The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) commissioned this joint venture, marking a significant infrastructural development between Zurich and Winterthur. Implenia's share in this venture amounts to approximately CHF 830 million, representing half of the project's total CHF 1.7 billion value.

The initiative includes the construction of the vital 8.3 km Brüttener tunnel and extensive refurbishment of several stations. This project aims to alleviate the current rail service bottlenecks, enhance mobility, and meet future transportation demands. The construction is expected to span ten years, utilizing advanced techniques such as tunnel boring machines and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for efficient planning and execution.
