Deutsche Infineum and RheinEnergie Collaborate on Major Solar Project in Cologne

Deutsche Infineum GmbH&Co.KG and RheinEnergie AG have signed a contract to build an 18-megawatt photovoltaic installation in Cologne. This project, aimed at generating approximately 18 million kilowatt hours annually, positions itself as one of Germany's largest inner-city PV installations. The commissioning is scheduled for 2027.

The installation, consisting of about 25,300 solar modules, will be spread over 12 hectares, producing surplus electricity sufficient for 6,500 households and potentially reducing CO₂ emissions by 6,500 tonnes annually.

This initiative is a strategic advancement toward Infineum's goal to cut scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030. It also reinforces RheinEnergie's role in providing renewable energy solutions, aligning with Cologne's climate protection targets.
