Hong Kong Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Victory in War of Resistance

Hong Kong participated in nationwide activities to observe the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. September 3 marks Victory Day in China, ending the prolonged war against fascism from 1931-1945.

John Lee, Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, led a delegation of 360 officials and community representatives to Victory Day events in Beijing, including a large military parade. President Xi Jinping highlighted China’s sacrifice for world peace in his speech.

Historically, Hong Kong served as a key wartime supply hub and home to the Hong Kong Independent Battalion, contributing significantly to the resistance. Various commemorations, such as exhibitions and educational activities, are occurring in Hong Kong to promote historical understanding and patriotism.
