Hong Kong Rises to Second in Global Competitiveness

Hong Kong ascended to the world’s second most competitive economy, as per the 2026 World Competitiveness Ranking released by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). This marks the highest ranking for Hong Kong since 2019, showcasing consistent improvement over the past three years.

The climb reflects strong performance across competitiveness factors, notably ranking second in “Government efficiency” and third in “Business efficiency.” Additionally, Hong Kong emerges top in “Tax policy” and “Business legislation,” affirming the region's conducive business environment and stable policies.

Hong Kong is emerging as a "value hub," balancing growth and security amid global uncertainties. It maintains strong economic, financial, and talent standings, recognized positively by the International Monetary Fund and major credit rating agencies.

The HKSAR Government focuses on aligning with the National 15th Five-Year Plan, enhancing its role as a global connector and value-adder while opening new opportunities for investors and enterprises worldwide.
