Hong Kong's Tourism Sees a Resurgence Amid Mega Events
Hong Kong celebrated the New Year with a strong boost in tourism, aided by mega events at the Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP). The opening of KTSP has ushered in a new era for sports and entertainment, attracting large crowds and enhancing the city’s appeal as a tourist destination. Over the festive season, visitor numbers soared, with daily visitors reaching a post-Covid high of about 50,000 during Christmas, contributing significantly to the tourism sector.
In 2025, Hong Kong welcomed 50 million tourists, marking a 12% increase from the previous year. This surge included 38 million visitors from mainland China and 12 million from other countries, showcasing Hong Kong's global allure. The city ranked second in Euromonitor International's Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025, trailing only Bangkok in international arrivals.
