Fruit Imports from Moldova Surge Amid Growing Demand in Germany

The Republic of Moldova has seen a significant boost in fruit imports, with a 50% increase over the past five years. Moldovan apricots, cherries, and peaches have become popular among German consumers, while dried fruits and nuts maintain high demand.

Moldova dedicates 75% of its land to agriculture, offering ideal conditions for fruit and vegetable growth. Moldovan table grapes, renowned for their intense aroma and sweetness, are particularly in demand, backed by investments in vine care and packaging technologies.

German retailers are increasingly turning to Moldova for apples and greenhouse vegetables due to their consistent quality and extended availability. Moldovan products benefit from modern infrastructure and alignment with European standards, offering competitive prices without compromising quality.

Moldovan exports reached $345.4 million in September 2025, with Germany accounting for $94 million. This upward trend highlights both the potential and the strategic importance of the European market for Moldova.
