IVU.rail Optimizes Rail and Tram Operations in Adelaide

Since September 2025, Adelaide's Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has been utilizing an end-to-end IT system to manage rail and tram operations. Partnering with Berlin-based IVU Traffic Technologies, Adelaide embarked on this digital transformation in early 2025. The transition was completed in record time, integrating tram operations just five months after the project began.

Over 100 vehicles now operate under the management of IVU.rail's integrated software. This transition introduces a standardized IT infrastructure, covering network planning, duty scheduling, and real-time service management. Mohit Sareen from the DIT emphasized the system's role in enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making.

Martin Schilling of IVU highlighted the collaboration's success, showcasing how an integrated IT system simplifies complex processes. Adelaide's example demonstrates the system's value in public transport operations.
