Sanofi announced that Japan has approved the subcutaneous version of Sarclisa for the treatment of multiple myeloma. This decision is based on various research studies, including the Phase 3 IRAKLIA trial, which demonstrated efficacy comparable to the intravenous version.

The new formulation can be used in combination with other standard treatments for newly diagnosed or recurrent multiple myeloma. The CirCLIQ portable injection device is under review and could make Sarclisa the first cancer treatment in Japan that can be administered via this device.

Subcutaneous Sarclisa simplifies the treatment process for patients, reducing the stress associated with intravenous infusions. Multiple myeloma is prevalent in Japan, highlighting the need for innovative therapeutic options.
