KBC Maintains Strong Capital Position Above ECB Requirements
KBC has received notification from the European Central Bank (ECB) regarding its minimum capital requirements. Following the 2026 Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP), the ECB decided to maintain KBC's Pillar 2 Requirement (P2R) at 1.95% and the Pillar 2 Guidance (P2G) at 1.00% of Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA).
This decision results in a fully loaded Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement of 10.94% for KBC Group, under the Danish Compromise. The requirement includes a Pillar 1 Requirement of 4.50%, P2R of 1.10%, a capital conservation buffer of 2.50%, and a buffer for systemically important institutions of 1.50%. It also accounts for announced changes in countercyclical capital buffers of 1.34%.
At the end of Q2 2026, KBC reported a Basel 4 CET1 ratio of 14.4%, surpassing the required threshold.
