Kohler and Flamingo Estate Unveil Bathhouse at Milan Design Week

Kohler Co., in collaboration with Flamingo Estate's Richard Christiansen, launched the Flamingo Estate Bathhouse at the Milan Design Week 2026. This multi-sensory experience merges architecture, nature, and serenity, situated in the courtyard of Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea. The Bathhouse is a brutalist structure rising amidst wildflowers, connecting built forms with ecosystems.

Inspired by California's Flamingo Estate bathhouse, the installation uses weathered metals and elemental surfaces. Stained-glass windows by Milan artisan Samuele Dossena illuminate the terracotta-toned interior. Candles from Flamingo Estate enhance the calming ambiance, providing a reflective space where nature and ritual converge.

The centerpiece, Reverie, features a copper-wrapped enameled cast iron bath made with 80% recycled materials, highlighting Kohler's sustainable design legacy. The installation also includes pollinator baths supporting local wildlife, reinforcing the connection between human craft and nature.

Kohler CEO David Kohler emphasized the importance of design in bridging heritage and innovation. The installation, open until April 26, transforms bathing into a ritual, promoting wellness through nature connection.
