Kontron and congatec Announce COM Manufacturing Partnership

On May 14, 2025, in Deggendorf, Germany, Kontron AG and congatec GmbH announced a collaboration to manufacture computer-on-modules (COM). As per the agreement, Kontron will produce the congatec COMs using its international production network. This strategic partnership aims to leverage the similarity of COM modules to achieve cost efficiency and effectively manage tariff developments, particularly in North America. The cooperation reflects congatec’s strategy to adopt a "local-for-local" approach amidst global trade disruptions and growing geopolitical concerns.

Kontron's subsidiary, JUMPtec GmbH, and Deutsche Beteiligungs AG-owned congatec GmbH both specialize in COM development for embedded computing. The collaboration is set to expand into potential co-development, know-how exchange, and joint sales activities. Furthermore, discussions are underway regarding a potential capital investment by congatec in JUMPtec, enhancing further collaboration. This agreement is supported by both companies' strong quality standards and partnerships with tech giants like Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and NXP.
