Holcim Unveils Pioneering Carbon Capture Test Platform in France

Holcim has announced the launch of the industry's first large-scale carbon capture test platform, CaptureLab, in Martres-Tolosane, France. This facility is designed for testing and scaling advanced carbon capture technologies in collaboration with third parties. Developed by Holcim’s R&D teams from Switzerland and France, CaptureLab aims to adapt breakthrough carbon capture technologies for cement manufacturing.

The 2,500m² platform facilitates real-world emission analysis and testing, supporting various carbon capture systems that connect to Holcim's plant. The platform's open innovation model encourages collaboration with manufacturers, startups, and researchers.

Holcim's first pilot project on this platform is in collaboration with Air Liquide. Technologies like cryogenic treatment and membrane separation will be tested at scale, contributing to Holcim's decarbonization efforts.
