Latvian Companies Forge Key US Partnerships in Defense and Genomics

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) concluded a successful trade mission to the United States, finalizing vital agreements in defense technology and genomics. The mission, part of President Edgars Rinkēvičs' visit, included 44 Latvian entities focusing on startups, film, defense technology, and biomedicine across New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

A significant outcome was ORIGIN Robotics' memorandum with Anduril for counter-UAS air defense cooperation, enhancing NATO's eastern defense. Other notable interactions involved Neros, Shield AI, and Qualcomm, aiming at bolstering secure communications and engineering capabilities.

In genomics, a pivotal agreement with Element Biosciences and another with Illumina laid the groundwork for advancing precision medicine in Latvia. The film industry saw productive dialogues with major studios about international partnerships.

This mission, backed by EU and national funds, underscores Latvia's strategic push into the US market. LIAA anticipates these collaborations to foster tangible projects, investments, and exports.
