LLB Partners with Rothschild & Co Bank AG, Exiting Middle East Operations
On 2 September 2025, Liechtensteinische Landesbank AG (LLB) announced a strategic referral agreement with Rothschild & Co Bank AG. This decision marks LLB's withdrawal from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, cities where it has operated for 20 years. Christoph Reich, interim Group CEO, stated that LLB will focus on its international clients in Europe, viewing the partnership as a growth opportunity for clients and employees.
LLB will recommend Rothschild & Co, renowned for its 200 years of financial service, to clients in the UAE. Despite transitioning support from the Middle East to Europe, international private banking remains crucial for LLB. The referral agreement potentially covers business worth CHF 1 billion, a minor fraction of LLB's CHF 117.2 billion volume. Details of the referral price remain undisclosed.
