LIR Life Sciences Unveils Successful Study on Protamine-Enhanced Permeation

LIR Life Sciences Corp. has announced the successful completion of a comparative mouse study demonstrating the effectiveness of protamine-enhanced skin permeation for GLP/GIP-based therapies. The study evaluated both semaglutide and tirzepatide, showing reproducible and closely aligned results between the two molecules. Through a skin-applied protamine formulation, the study achieved glucose control profiles for semaglutide similar to injectable forms, and extended this methodology to tirzepatide, a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist. Results indicated consistent glucose response profiles for both therapies, underscoring the reproducibility and potential broad applicability of this delivery system.

Comparisons against standard subcutaneous injection methods confirmed the promising potential of this molecule-agnostic protamine delivery system. CEO Edward Mills highlighted the consistency of these results across two leading therapies, increasing confidence in future developments. As the study is now complete, LIR plans to refine formulations and pursue regulatory studies. Results were presented at the esteemed ENDO 2026 meeting, underlining the potential for needle-free incretin-based obesity therapies.
